🎮 Scenario

You have spawned in a dangerous Minecraft world. Night is falling, lava and mobs are nearby. Survive the Nether!

📖 Part A – Reading

Passage: Nightfall in the Nether

As the last rays of the square sun disappeared behind the obsidian cliffs, Alex tightened the straps on his diamond armour. The Nether was never easy — lava rivers cut across the scorched landscape, and hostile mobs appeared without warning. He had built a small fortress earlier in the day, but the growing darkness made every shadow a potential threat.

A ghast shrieked in the distance, and Alex ducked behind a pillar. He could see its white, floating form hovering above the lava. Heart pounding, he nocked an arrow and aimed carefully. He remembered the lessons from earlier — patience and timing were everything. One wrong move, and the fortress would be gone, and he would respawn back at the overworld, losing precious supplies.

Suddenly, the ground shook. A horde of zombified piglins had noticed him, and their guttural growls echoed around the fortress walls. Alex knew he needed a plan — he couldn’t defeat them all head-on. He sprinted to a side tunnel, quietly placing blocks to create a temporary barricade, then used a potion to invisibly slip past the mob. By the time he emerged on the other side, the ghast had vanished, and the night in the Nether was, for now, survived.

Passage: A Dangerous Night in the Nether

The Nether glowed red as the lava flowed in rivers like molten glass. Jamie adjusted their diamond armour, feeling the weight of responsibility. A fortress they had built earlier provided some safety, but they knew the darkness brought dangers that could appear at any moment.

A ghast appeared in the distance, its shrill wail echoing across the fiery landscape. Jamie crouched behind a pillar and nocked an arrow, taking careful aim. Heart racing, they remembered that timing and patience were key. A sudden tremor in the ground revealed a horde of zombified piglins moving toward the fortress.

Jamie ran along a narrow ledge, placing blocks to block the piglins’ path. They used a potion of invisibility to sneak past the group, all the while keeping an eye on the ghast hovering above the lava.
