Easter is a Christian holiday that remembers the resurrection of Jesus. Many people go to church on Easter Sunday. Children often get chocolate eggs or take part in Easter egg hunts.

In some countries, people decorate eggs, have special meals, or visit family. In New Zealand, Easter is in autumn, and people often have a long weekend.

Easter is a time of joy, rest, and spending time with loved ones.

Grammar: Past Simple – Regular and Irregular Verbs

Short Dictation Story:

Benny is a small brown bunny.
He loves Easter.
He paints colourful eggs and hides them in the garden.
But one day, a big wind blows his basket away!
Eggs roll everywhere.
Benny runs fast and finds them all.
The children say, “Thank you, Benny!”
Benny smiles. He is happy.

Scene 1: The Cross

Narrator:
A long time ago, in Jerusalem, Jesus was put on a cross. He did nothing wrong, but people did not understand him.

Jesus:
Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.

Crowd Member 1:
He says he is the Son of God!

Crowd Member 2:
Let’s see if God will save him.

Voice of God:
This is my Son. I love him.

Narrator:
Jesus died. His friends were very sad. They took his body and put it in a tomb. A big stone was rolled in front.

Soldier 1:
No one can go in.

Soldier 2:
No one can come out.


Scene 2: The Tomb

Narrator:
On Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb.

Mary Magdalene:
I want to see Jesus.

Narrator:
But the stone was gone! The tomb was open!

Angel:
Don’t be afraid! Jesus is not here. He is alive!

Mary Magdalene:
Alive? Jesus is alive?


Scene 3: The Good News

Narrator:
Mary ran to tell the disciples.

Peter:
Can it be true?

John:
Let’s go and see!

Narrator:
They ran to the tomb. It was empty.

Peter:
He is not here.

John:
Just like he said!

Narrator:
Later, Jesus appeared to Mary.

Jesus:
Peace be with you. Go and tell my friends.

Mary Magdalene:
Jesus is alive! He is risen!

Everyone:
He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!
