🟧Reading: “Visiting the Doctor”

Hello, my name is Jake Turner. I want to tell you about my visit to the doctor. I was feeling sick for a few days. My throat hurt. I had a fever, and I was very tired. I decided it was time to see a doctor. I picked up my phone and called the clinic.

"Hello, this is Riverside Medical Clinic. How can I help you?"

"Hello, my name is Jake Turner. I want to make an appointment with the doctor. I feel sick."

"I understand, Jake. What are your symptoms?"

"I have a sore throat, a fever, and I feel very tired."

"I see. We have an appointment tomorrow at 10 a.m. Is that okay?"

"Yes, that's good. Thank you."

"Great. Please come a few minutes early to check in."

"Thank you. I will be there."

The next day, I arrived at the clinic and went to the receptionist desk.

"Good morning. Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes. My name is Jake Turner. I have an appointment with Dr. Thompson."

"Thank you, Jake. Please fill in this form. Dr. Thompson will see you soon."

I filled in the form and waited in the lobby until the nurse called me in.

"Hello, Jake. I'm Dr. Thompson. I hear you're not feeling well. Can you tell me more?"

"Hello, Dr. Thompson. Yes, I have had a sore throat and a fever for three days. I feel very tired."

"I see. Do you have a headache, a cough, or stomach pain?"

"I have a mild headache, but no cough and no stomach pain."

"All right, Jake. Let me check your throat and temperature."

Dr. Thompson looked at my throat and checked my temperature. I had a mild fever.

"Is it serious?"

"It looks like a virus—maybe a cold or flu. It is common this time of year. I will give you medicine to help with your symptoms."

"Dr. Thompson, how long will I feel sick?"

"With rest and medicine, you will feel better in a few days. But if you still have a fever after a week or feel worse, come back to see me."

"Got it. Thank you for your help."

"You're welcome, Jake. Get well soon."

Dr. Thompson gave me the prescription and some advice. I left the clinic with my medicine and followed the doctor's advice. After a few days, I felt much better.
