Ingredients:
1 shot of espresso
A small amount of steamed milk or milk foam (about 1-2 teaspoons)
Equipment:
Espresso machine
Milk frother or steam wand
Espresso cup (60-90ml)
Steps:
1. Prepare the espresso:
Grind fresh coffee beans and tamp them into the portafilter.
Brew a single shot of espresso into a small espresso cup.
2. Steam the milk:
Use a steam wand to heat and froth a small amount of milk (around 30-50ml).
Aim for silky microfoam or lightly aerated milk.
3. "Stain" the espresso:
Add a small dollop of the steamed milk or foam to the top of the espresso.
The milk should "stain" the surface, softening the espresso's strong flavor.
Tips:
Use fresh, high-quality coffee beans for the best flavor.
Ensure the milk is not too hot (ideally around 60–65°C).
For a stronger macchiato, add more foam instead of milk.
Enjoy your short macchiato!
