For the Base:
125g butter (softened)
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground ginger
For the Icing:
75g butter
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
2 tsp ground ginger

Instructions
1. Make the Base:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a square or rectangular baking tin (20cm x 20cm) with baking paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Sift in the flour, baking powder, and ground ginger. Mix until a crumbly dough forms.
4. Press the dough evenly into the prepared tin. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the base to cool in the tin.
2. Make the Icing:
1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and golden syrup over low heat.
2. Remove from heat and sift in the icing sugar and ground ginger. Mix until smooth.
3. Assemble:
1. Pour the warm icing over the cooled base, spreading evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
2. Leave to set at room temperature. Once firm, slice into squares or bars.
